Previous experimental studies have demonstrated an increased rate of the CSF production following bleeding episodes in the ventriculo-cisternal perfusion system. Preliminary trials of the autologous blood injection into the system showed the same effect. However, when serum only was applied into the system, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was produce for a short period up to two to three times as much as an ordinary case, whereas the red blood cell (RBC) suspension failed to show any effect on the production rate. These two blood components did not affect the absorpting mechanism of CSF.
