No. 3 The influence of vitamine C upon the body-weight, oestrus-cycle and genital tissue of the mature female mouse exhausted by the excessive motion was investigated. The results obtained are as follows; 1) When the mouse is exhausted by the excessive motion; a) The body-weight decreases gradually. b) The oestrus-cycle is interrupted and remains at the stage where interrupted. c) The uterus and vagina show the atrophyic changes of stage 5. d) In ovary, egg cells degenerate becoming atrophic and corpus luteum decreases in number. 2) When the vitamine C is injected into those mice: a) The body-weight increases slightly. b) The oestrus-cycle reappears and shows the rutting period. c) The tissue-figure of genitals returns to the normal condition. 3) Accordingly, it can be considered that vitamine C is effective in restoring the ovarian function resulting from exhaustion caused by excessive motion, probably by its stimulating action. No. 4 The influence of vitamine C upon the body-weight, oestrus-cycle and genital tissue of the mature female mouse exhausted by high temperature. The results are summarized as follows: 1) When the mouse is exposed to high temperature (40-41℃): a) The body-weights decrease gradually. b) The oestrus-cycle is interrupted and remains at the stage where interrupted. c) The uterus and vagina show the atrophyic changes of stage 5. d) The ovary becomes smaller and egg cells degenerate to astrophy and corpusluteum decreases in number. 2) When the vitamine C is injected into these mice: a) The decrease of body-weights stops and oestrus continues. b) The degenerative atrophy of genitals is also stopped, and oestrus-cycle reappears and the genital tissue returns to the normal condition. 3) Accordingly, it is evident that vitamine C is effective in restoring the ovarian function, probably by its stimulating action, affected by the exhaustion caused by the high temperature. No. 5 The influence of vitamine C and Prolan as a contrast upon the oestrus-cycle and genital tissue either of the mature or the infantile female mouse. The results obtained are as follows: 1) The oestrus-cycle of the female mouse appears earlier when vitamine C is given. 2) In case of mature animals: a) Vagina and uterus exhibit the growing and corpus luteum stages in succession. b) In the ovary, growth of follicula is accelerated and numerous new and aged corpus luteum (C. l. verum and C. l. atreticum) are noted. 3) In case of infantile animals: The influence of Prolan was also investigated as a contrast to vitamine C, and no difference was observed in their effectiveness. 4) Accordingly, it can be said that vitamine C and Polan stimulate directly the ovarian function itself. No. 6 The inflence of vitamine A, B, C, especially C upon the body-weight, oestrus-cycle and genital tissue of the mature female animals (rat, mouse) exhausted by the excessive motion, hunger or high temperature. (No. 1-4). Secondly, the influence of vitamine C as well as Prolan upon the genitals of the infantile female mouse was also examined (No. 5). The results are summarized as follows: 1) Vitamine C prohibits the interruption of oestrus-cycle due to the exhaustion caused by the excessive motion, hunger or high temperature, and restores the degenerative genital tissue to normal condition. 2) From the results mentioned above it is evident that vitamine C, just as Prolan, acts directly upon the ovary stimulating the genital function.
