By examining the reaction of the serum of patients suffering from cancer of uterus (30 cases), and as comrarison, cystadenoma ovarii (2 cases), Myoma of uterus (3 cases), eclampsia (1 case), malignant chorioepithelioma (2 cases), pregnant women (5 cases) and healthy individuals (10 cases), the author arrived at the following conclusions: 1. The serum showed characteristic absorption spectra, which were due to the serum protein. The absorption curve shifted by the ultra-violet ray radiation and by changing the reaction (pH). Under these conditions the extinction was noted. Between the absorption curve of the patients suffering from uterine cancer and those of the healthy individuals, however, no differences were observed. 2. Protein free blood serums of patients suffering from cystoma of ovary, myoma of uterus, eclampsia and of the pregnant women as well as of the healthy individuals showed the characteristic absorption curves, which were mainly due to uric acid. In cases of malignant chorioepithelioma and cancer of uterus, however, they showed different absorption curve. The author, after investigation of the causes of the foregoing results, suggests that nucleic acid and its decomposition products in the blood serum probably account for these changes.
