A structure of energy distribution curves has been found at 7.4 eV in photoemission experiments on CdS single crystals cleaved in ultra-high vacuum. The peak is considered to arise from the electronic transition around the L and M points in the Brillouin zone which corresponds to the shoulder E_2 in the reflectivity spectrum measured by Cardona and Harbeke. Once-inelastically-scattered electrons and thermalized ones have been observed seperately. The thermalization occurs at the K point in the Brillouin zone.
