The nuclear spin-lattice relaxation is considered by the rate equations which include the cross relaxation terms. The spin-lattice relaxation time of protons is measured in polystyrene containing various amounts of DPPH. The experimental result is compared with the theoretical considerations and an appreciable contribution of the electronic spin-spin interaction is shown below 77K. The spin-lattice relaxation time due to the coupling with the paramagnetic impurity is expressed by a simple formula. The nuclear spin diffusion is also discussed.
