The s-f exchange interaction is derived frotn the Anderson Hauniltonian for the (4/)' configu-ration in the lowest ,7-multiplet Hq. The angular naomenttrrn conservation holds including bothspin and orbital motion. For the case when the crystal field lifts the (2J f l)-fold degeneracy toyield a singlet ground state, we derive an effective hyperfine cotrpling between a nuclear spin anda conduction electron by eliminating the 4/-electrons. From it the RKKY interaction betweenthe nuclear spins is obtained, which is of the form It J.,j Ij, where Jtj is a symrnetric tensorwhose elements depend on the angles of' Rtj relative to the crystal axes in addition to the dis-tance Rt . To determine the nuclear ordering in the mean field approxinaation, the eigen-valueproblem is investigated for the Foturier transforzn of J*j. Tensorial nattrre of Jtj brings rntrchmore complicated features into the enhanced ntrclear naagnetisna of Pr than that expected fromthe conventional scalar type RKKY interaction, such as the occurence of two successive phasetransitions between the paramagnetic state and T : O state.
