The direct method of Clarkson and Kruskal is used to obtain the similarity reduc-lions of a simplified version of the Hirota-Satsuma equation. It is also shown that nosimilarity reductions can be found by the classical Lie's method, as there are no infinitesimal transformations that leave invariant the integrodifferential equation understudy.
