The equilibrium and the stability of flux-core spheromak plasma with finitepressure are analyzed and the effects of the flux core are investigated. CTCC-11spheromak is used as the FC (Flux Conserver) model of the flux-core spheromak andthe MHD equilibrium configurations are determined nulnerically. By use of these con-figurations, it is shown that the magnetic field profile of ordinary spheromak transitsinto the field profile where the toroidal magnetic field decreases monotonously withthe distance from symmetric axis, when 2 decreases from 2.. Here, 2 is the ratio of theflux-core current to the flux of the flux core, and A. is the lowest eigenvalue of theGrad-Shafranov equation when plasma is bounded all by a conducting wall. In mid-way of this transition, the plasma confinement is shown to be worsened. The profilesof the safety factor q and d V/ d y also show characteristic variation for the transition.This transition characterizes the flux-core spheromak from other reactors.[spheromak, flux core, equilibrium, stability, plasma confinement, ther- lj monuclear fusion, plasma physicsll
