Excitation functions of tone reactions (cc, n), (cv, 2n), (cc, pn) for "Cu and (cz, n), (a,2n), (cx, 3n), (cv, p3n) for "Cu have been measured with st;tcked foil activation techniques for proj ectile energies below 40 MeV cc-particle. A large-volume Ge(Li) detec-for was used. Theoretical excitation functions for the above reactions have also beencalculated with and without inclusion of pre-equilibrium particle emission in theframework of a geometry-dependent-hybrid model using ALICE/ LIVERMORE 82computer code. It is found 1.hat the pre-equilibrium contribtttion is more pronouncedin the high-energy tail region of the excitation function and the experimental data areexplained only when the pre-equilibrium emission phenomena is also taken into account along with the equilibrium decay.@ NUCLEAR REACTIONS ""'Cu(cc, xpyn) excitation functions E.<40 MeV, ]l pre-equilibrium emission, GDII modell
