A systematic approach to the vibronic problem of bound polaron is proposedtaking advantage of spherical symmetry of the system. The interaction modes ofLO phonon classified according to the angular momentum quantum number areintroduced and the Hamiltonian is rewritten in the form which is manifestlyinvariant under rotation. The theory is applied to the analysis of the transientabsorption spectra due to the transition from the relaxed excited state to higherexcited states of the 7"-center in alkali halides. A good fit between the theoreticalprediction and the experiment is obtained and the final states of the transition areassigned to be 3p state and its phonon side bands perturbed through vibronicinteractions.
