Self-consistent stationary solutions for the envelope of 11,angmuir waves, fheion density perturt>ation and the ion distribtttion function are obtained for a one-dimensional unmagnetized plasma. Allowance for frapped tons yields an arbitra-riness for the shaj>e of the solutions. Two special solutions are obtairned : one isan envelope solitary wave in which the width is decreased due to the trapped ionscompared with the case obtained by the fluid theory, and the other is an envelopeshock in which the density jump is determined only by the sltock widttt and is in-dependent of the Langmuir wave amplitude ; the propagation velocity is decreaseddue to the effect of trapped ions.
