Specific heat measurements of single crystals of NiI_2・[(NH_2)_2CS]_6 in the temperature range 1.3°-6.0°K indicated two magnetic phase transitions at 1.64°K and 1.77°K. These transitions appear to be of the paramagnetic-antiferromagnetic type. The total entropy associated with these transitions is 2.179cal/mole・deg which is in good agreement with the value of 2.182cal/mole・deg from R ln(2S + 1) where S = 1 for the spin of the Ni^<++> ion. Approximately 75% of this total entropy change is recovered above 1.77°K. The sublattice magnetization, calculated from the specific heat data, is compared with the molecular field theory and several other statistical models.
