On the Mechanism of Disaccommodation in Ferrites

The dependence of the disaccommodation spectra on the density of cation vacancies has been investigated in the manganese- and nickel-iron-rich ferrites and the results compared with the dependence predicted by Iida. It is found that his model is not applicable to the disaccommodation effect occurring at room temperature. Iida's mechanism perhaps may be correct when applied to disaccommodation at high temperatures. Another model, based on the Slonczewski's theory of the Fe^<2+> ion anisotropy, is proposed in order to explain the disaccornmodation mechanism occurring at room temperature.
