For the mechanism of high-T_c superconductivity in inhomogeneous Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_<8+x> superconductors, we demonstrate the intrinsic superconducting gap, Δ_i, and pairing symmetry by using a developed Δ = Δ_i/p, where Δ is the observed energy gap and 0 < p ≤ 1 is band filling. When p = 1, Δ = Δ_i ≤ 10meV, measured at a node, is intrinsic. When 0 < p < 1, Δ implies an averaging of Δ_i, over the measurement region, which is an effect of the measurement. From spectra of the density of states (DOS), b = 2Δ_i/k_BT_c is less than 4 when p = 1 and the DOS indicates s-wave symmetry. The superconducting gap anisotropy is attributed to the inhomogeneity of the metal phase and the insulating d-wave phase in the measurement region.
