The fluctuations of the p-wave neutron reduced widths for fifty one nuclei have been analyzed with emphasis on recent measurements by a statistical procedure which is based on the method of maximum likelihood. It is shown that the p-wave neutron reduced widths of even-even nuclei follow single channel Porter Thomas distribution (X^2-distribution with degree of freedom ν=1) for most of the cases where there are no intermediate structure. It is emphasized that the distribution in nuclei other than even-even- may differ from a X^2-distribution with one degree of freedom. Possible explanation and significance of this deviation from ν=1 is given.
