The boundary effects in the open Hubbard chain with botrndary fields are studied. The boundary string soltutions of the Bethe ansatz eqtrations that give rise to a wave functions localized atthe boundary and exponentially decreasing away from the botrndary are provided. In particu-Jar, it is shown that the correct ground state of the naodel at half-filling contains the boundaryl-strings.
