Analytic solutions for a sonolurninescing gas bubble have been obtained, wlaich provide density, pressure and temperatture distributions for the gas inside btrbble oscillating under trltrasonic field. The solutions have revealed that sonolurninescence should occur jtrst prior to the bubble collapseand its dtrration is less than 300 ps and tltat increase and subsequent rapid decrease in bulcblewall acceleration induce the quenching of gas, consequently of the optical emission f'ollowed bythe substantial ternperature rise up to TOO,ODD K, which can be regarded as a thermal spike. Also the solutions have revealed that Gtrderley's sirnilarity soltrtion is not valid just prior tothe bubble collapse. Tlte gas teznperature inside the bttbble near the collapse is determinedprimarily by the amount of radiation heat toss. It also turns ottt that the ntzrnber of electronsionized, the ion species and the kinetic energy of electrons ?xffect the spectrvrm of light emissioncrtzcially. The calctulated spectral radiance incltrding the significant tails at short wavelengths, which shows a broad maxirnurn, is in good agreernent with observed data qvralitatively. Further,it has been found that the bulk tnodtrltrs of the liquid is the rnost important [iqtrid property forthe occurance of single btrbb[e sonoJuttuinescence.
