Optical observation of domain structure, differential thermal analysis, dielectricand dilatometric measurements of (CH,NH.).InC1, have been carried out over a fern-perature range from 25'C to 200'C. It has been found that the crystal undergoesphase transitions at 194'C (7'.) and 190'C (7'.), and is ferroelastic below T.. Takingaccount of the strain-compatibility relations for domain boundaries, it is suggestedfrom the result of optical observation that the crystal symmetry is mmm, 2/m and2/m in order of descending temperature.[phase transition, ferroelastics, domain structvure, dielectric constant, ll (Cl,NH.).lnCl,l
