Tlte 1?igh ion temnperature mode in JT-60, xvlten'e 7'l above 10 keV were obtaiuaed byhydrogen beana laeating of 20 MW into hydrogera limiter plasmas with I,o 1 - 2 N4 A,is ixavestigated by usitag the one dimerrsional traxasport code and experimental data ofelectron density and temperature. It is found tltat, in a low dem?sity plasxna with laighZ., the dilution of thermal ions due to impuriticcs and fast ions produced by neutralbeam injection cattses rancid ixtcrease in tlte ion texaaperature. 011 the otlaer laauad, in thesteady state, tlte dilution ltas little effect on the ccrntral ioua temperature for fixed elec-iron temperatture because the convection loss is domxuaant.
