The author investigates the one-dimensional extended Flubbard mccdel, i.e. theHubbard model with additional nearest rteighbor Coulomb repulsion V. The chargeexcitation gap at half-filling is obtained numerically. Tlte calculated gap is smallerthan that given by the Flartree-Fock approximation, especially near tlte )chase bound-ary. The gap is finite at the boundary WIICII U= 12, the result which gives an upperbound for the position of the tricritical jcoint.
