ESR Study of HNO_3 Intercalation Process of Graphite

An in situ F,SR study has been made on the process of HNO, intercalation ingraphite through gas-phase reactions at room temperature. The absorption linesunder a magnetic field parallel and / or perpendicular to the c-axis were single Dyso-nian throughout the process which continues to a stage-2 structure. The y-value andline width exhibited complicated variations with exposure time, while each curve con-sisted of two parts distinctly bounded by an apparent discontinuity. Qualitative inter-pretation is given in relation to the electronic structure changing with intercalation.
