The effects of the electron-lattice interaction on the neutral-tonic (Nl) transition areinvestigated. First, the degree of the dimerization u and of charge transfer p in theground state are calculated at different values of S (the strength of the electron-latticeinteraction). Next, we study the excited states of lattice-relaxed and Franck-Condontypes. The neutral-Tonic domain wall (NIDW) as well as the soliton structures are theexamples of the former. By these considerations we classify the Nl transition intothree types. By analyzing the value of p, we determine the appropriate value of S forTTF-Chloranil, and discuss the optical, magnetic and electrical properties by these ex-cited states.
