• The local characteristic of the Alfv<So wave excited by a Stix coil is investigatedin a radially inhomogeneous plasma. It is observed that the wave field of thestanding axisymmetric Alfv<So wave is enhanced and the polarization sensechanges at the resonance layer. It is also observed that the phase velocity of thepropagating axisymmetric Alfven wave varies radiaJ]y and corresponds to thelocal Alfven velocity.
