The presence of Bjerrum defects is taken into account in the study of phase transi-lion of ice Ic, where Staler-Takagi model of KH.P0 is modified to include interactionbetween neighbouring molecules and fourteen order parameters are used. The phasetransition of ice Ic with Bjerrum defects is of the first order as with Ic without them.When the formation energy for a pair of Bjerrum defects is larger than sixty times theenergy of interaction of neighbouring molecules E., the effect of defects on the transilion is negligible.
