A comparison is made of the tilting instability and resulting nonlinear reconnectionbetween a three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (3D MUD) simulation and theproto S-1/C spheromak experiment. A good agreement is obtained. The observedfast reconnection process is found to be explained by the driven reconnection theory.
