The lowest eigenvalue of the transfer-integral equation for the Frenkel-Kontorowa system, having the misfit parameter l (closely related to a normalizedparticle density p), and the specific heat derived therefrom are analytically discussedfrom a high-temperature expansion approach. In the case of /=0 (7= 1) for whichSchneider-Stoll [SS] have obtained exact numerical solutions, we can reproducea maximum of the specific heat about 1.06 at k.7'=11.O in SS units, being pass-ably consistent with the SS exact result. The cases for l$O (1>7>0.5) are alsostudied together with a validity range of the present approximation.
