The "singular point analysis" for partial differential equations due to Weiss,Tabor, and Carnevale is performed for soliton equations in (2-l- 1) dimensions.The soliton equations are derived with the help of pseudo differential operatorsand include the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (K-P) equation. We demonstrate thatthe equations under consideration have the Painlev<S property.
