Heating mechanism by waves near the electron cyclotron frequency is theoreti-cally analyzed in the current-sustaining plasma. The plasma can be heated moreeffectively by its anisotropy in addition to the electron cyclotron resonance. Theheated region becomes broader than that of Maxwellian plasma.
