• The crystal field energy levels, the magnetic susceptibilities and the (-valuesof Pr.Mg.(NO.).. ?24lI,0 were calculated theoretically by means of diagonalisa-tion of the matrix of spin-orbit (SO), electrostatic (US) and the crystal field (CF)interaction considered together, the matrix being constructed in a basis of allstates of Pr" in the 4f' configuration. A C.. site has been assumed. The crystalfield levels that were obtained from the aforesaid diagonalisation were used tocalculate the y-values and principal magnetic susceptibilities. The set of parametersgiving the good fit to the three experiments (optical, EPR and susceptibility),has been evaluated.
