In a recent paper (J. Phys. Soc. Jpn. 46 (1979) 1899), the author developed athermodynamic theory on the complex coacervation in the absence of low mo-Iecular ions, under the assumption that the coacervation is a condensation pheno-menon of the aggregate of a polyanion and a polycation in aqueous solution,by obtaining the interaction potential U between these aggregates. In the presentpaper, the theory has been extended to a more comjvlicated phenomenon in salt-containing solutions. The phase separation of this three-component systemis analyzed by a new method. This treatment has modified the interaction potentialU. It has been found that the presence of salts not only suppresses in most casesbut also enhances the coacervation in some cases.
