• We extend a previous model of a semi-infinite Ising ferromagnet with anisotropyso as to incorporate not only the surface effects on. anisotropy, t>ut also those onexchanue courlinxs into the model. The rhase dianrams and the orderin: tem-peratures for the surface magnetism of this extended model are examined by a neweffective-field theory'. The rrevious result that the surface cannot order beforethe bulk does when we take no account of the su.rface effects on the exchangecouplings can be seen more clearly in those diagrams. The results obtained by ausual molecular-field theory are also given to compare with those of the effective-field theory.
