The triggerjng mechanism at the transition from the 7'-conformation to 7?-conformation in the Hemoglobin is attributed to the pseudo-Jahn-Teller effectresulting from the intra-atomic (3d)'-(3d)'(4p) interaction by an A.. vibrationalmode. The general formula for this effect in ton-porphyrins as well as metallo-porphyrins is given by the closure approximation. The explicit adiabatic poten-fiats of the iron for the te",iary two conformations (t- and r-conformation) aregiven.
