Statistical Green's function theory has been stuccessfully applied to study theferroelectric phase trazasitions in the Rochelle Salt and its deuterated form withtwo sub-lattice pseudo-spita model containing e;pin-phonon interaction terms. The Blinc-do Gemanes model parameters have been calculated for both of the salts.A pheutomenological explanation of the isotope ?tnd the impurity dependence ofthe transition temperatures has also beett sought from our calculations. Theorigiua of non-logarithmic behaviour of the heat capacity has been attributed tothe strou?g protora-phonon and anharmonic interactions. Fiuaally, renorrxaalizedphot?on frequency and the temperature dependevvce of the soft mode frequencyhave beeua studied theoretically. The present study suggests that phase tramasitionsfor the Rochelle Salt and its deuterated variety can be understood by a displacivenaechanism.
