Internal friction of cold worked pure aluminum and its dilute alloys is rcxeasuredas a function of temperature with a fully automatic inverted torsion pe:ndulum. Both the Bordoni and the Hasiguti peaks in pure aluminum are suppress<:d by theaddition of small amounts of solute elemetats. In place of them Hasiguti type solutepeaks are observeed in all the alloys investigated, These peaks are interpreted to bedue to the interaction between dislocations and solute elements. The j>eriod ofvibration measured simultaneously vzith internal friction is differentiated withrespect to temp<Srature and a new method to determine the activation energywith the use of it is proposed.
