Nonlinear interactions between two waves t?'aveIIing in opposite di?rectionsare investigated. When a nonlinear Klein-Gordort equation is adopted as a modelequation, it is shown that such a wave system is governed by a simpl<: set ofequations for their complex amplitudes. Steacl[y progressive waves governedby this set are investigated for various cases clas;sifted accord'ing to the signs ofthe coefficients. It is then found that one wave tra, veiling in one direction appearsfrom a certain point and the other travelling in the opposite directiorr. has aconstant amplitude from that point. This phenorrvenon may be regarded as a sortof reflection in spite of no rigid boundary.
