The examination of published differential and double differential cross sectiondata for the reaction "Mg(d, p7)"Mg at 10 MeV shows that the angular distribu-tions can not be reproduced completely by DWBA calculations, particularly atbackward angles. This discrepancy may be due to the presence of compoundnucleus (CN) contributions. The CN contributions calculated from Hauser-Feshbach theory have been added to the double differential cross sections calcu-fated from DWBA. It has been shown that the fits to the double differential crosssections are markedly improved, like the differential cross sections, by the additionof CN contributions. Moreover the differential cross section of the levels withspin 7/2" and 9/2" and double differential cross sections for 3-+0 and 8+3correlations, which do not show the stripping pattern are close to those predictedby HF calculations. Thus it is possible to account for the strength of the levels, which do not have the obvious direct stripping pattern, simply by CN processes.NUCLEAR REACTIONS "Mg(d,p7), f=10MeV; Hauser-FeshbachAnalyses, Compound Nucleus Contributions; Double Differential Cross-section.
