Electron cooling in Hf through resonant capture leading to (i) vibrationalexcitation and (ii) vibrational dissociation of Hf has been studied within thescope of Born-Oppenheimer approximation, using Feshbach's projection operatortechnique. Results are presented for (i) cross-sections for certain specific vibra-tional transitions (r,->r,), and for (ii) total cross-sections for vibrational dissocia-lion. Variations in the rotational ine]as.ticity effects as obtained for different typesof vibrational excitations are discussed.
