The differential and total cross sections for the reactione--1-H(Is)+e -FH(ns), n=2,3,4,---ocare obtained in the first Born approximation. Exchange is taken care of by thei) Born-Oppenheimer, ii) Ochkur and iii) First order exchange approximations.Polarization effect arising from the distortion of the target atom by the incomingparticle is introduced by the addition of a term 'pole to the usual ground statewave function. The exchange scattering amplitude containing the repulsive partof the interacting potential has been reduced to a simple one dimensional integral. The effect of polarization enhance the differential cross section in the forwarddirection. For small angle scattering the angular distributions in various approxi-mations are similar but at large angles they deviate from one another.
