Upper Limit for Coherent Electromagnetic Radiation at Crab Pulsar Frequency

The wide spectrum of electromagnetic radiation from the Crab Nebula isintensity-modulated at the rotation frequency, 30.1 Hz, of its central pulsar,PSR 0532. Any demodulation mechanism in the atmosphere of the earth mightgenerate an ELF radiation at this frequency. We have searched for this waveusing a coil antenna on the grotmd. Analysis of 93 h of the recorded antennaoutput sets an upper limit, l x 10 "W m ', for the flux of'the coherent com-ponemt.
