The anisotropy of the lower critical field H.. has been measured in singlecrystal spheres of niobium (Nb) and vanadium (V). Analysis of the magnetizationcurves near H.. indicates that the transition at H,.. is made into the intermediatemixed state characteristic of small tc (Ginzburg-Landau parameter) Type IIsuperconductors. The anisotropy curve of H.. determined with the field lying inthe (110) plane is similar for Nb and V and shows an unexpectedly complicatedpattern. It is argued that the observed anisotropy curve is of intrinsic nature andmay possibly be correlated with the anisotropy of the flux line lattice state.
