The square Ising ferromagnet is investigated by computer siuttulation in theregion of competing interactions (nearest-neighbor interaction A>0 and second-neishbor one A'<0). Sr>ontaneous masnetization Mo and enersv E are calculatedfrom advanced Monte Carlo calculations. The estimates of M. and of the Curiepoint T.(K'/K) determined by analyzing the data on E are compared with theresults from analysis of low-temperature series based on the assumption /7=l /8.The values of T.(K'/K) are obtained front pad<S-approximant method for low-temperature series. The value of p does not vary from the Onsager's value 1/8.
