Leibfried-Schlomann equation for the lattice thermal conductivity of insulating crystals has been applied to the case of copper, silver and gold. Phonon viscosity, dislocation drag constant and thermal attenuation suffered by longitudinal and shear acoustic waves propagating along the <100> and <110> directions in these metals have been evaluated. Attenuation calculated for copper is in qualitative agreement with the experimental data.
