Local order and size effect coefficients were measured from diffuse X-ray scattering of In-Pb solid solutions. The sign of the observed local order coefficient α_1 is positive, indicating that clustering is preferred in this system. This is expected from heats of formation in the liquid phase measured by other investigators and also from the electron screening model of an alloy. From measured size effect coefficients β_1 and local order coefficients α_1 it is found that relatively large atom size accomodations, compared with other systems, take place in this system.
