Magnetic and crystallographic natures of compounds Mn_<1-xCr_xAs(0.3<≧x>0) were studied in the temperature ranges from 4.2°to 900°K and from 100° to 320°K. The compounds had MnP-type (B31) structure at low temperatures and transformed into NiAs-type (B8_1) structure at high temperatures. These compounds were metamagnetic at low temperatures. It was further confirmed that the deformation induced a low spin state of metal ions in the compounds, while with decease in deformation due to the rise of temperature, the metal ions in the compounds transfer to a high spin state, as in the case of MnAs_<0.9>P_<0.1>.
