Formulae of stellarator approximation valid for finite aspect ratio helical tori arederived by using coordinate transformation and method of averaging. The threedimensional problem of MHD equilibrium and stability is reduced to two dimen-sional one; this makes possible to convert tokamak codes to stellarator codes. Impor-lance of including residual magnetic field to recover the three dimensional magneticfield from averaged equilibrium is pointed out.
