^<35>Cl NQR Zeenman Spectra in 2, 2-Dichloroacetamide

The ^<35>Cl Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance Zeeman stectrum in single cylindrical crystals of 2, 2-dichloroacetamide was studied for the two resonance lines at room temperature. Two non-equivalent derections of the field gradient were observed for the low freauency line and one for the high frequency line. The crystal is known to have a monoclinic lattice with a C^<2h> symmetry. By an analysis of the loci, the crystal exes a, b and c are determined relative to the growth axis. The directions of the C-Cl bonds relative to the crystal axes are obtained. The Cl-C-Cl angle in the molecule in the solid is determined as 112°. The percentages of single bond, double bond and ionic characters are estimated.
