The valence band structure of CdSb is derived by the use of the symmetry properties of wave functions and the k・p method. The valence band has the k_x- and k_y- linear terms, but the k_z- linear term is negligible. Nonparabolicity of the valence band is larger in the plane (001) than in the planes (100) and (010). The obtained expressions give four kinds of the valence structures. Experimental results on the magnetoresistance in p-CdSb is satisfactorily explained by the nonparabolic band model with a double maximum on the line [100]. The band parameters are determined.
