Using a newly developed high resolution three crystal spectrometer fine structures in the Kα lines of chromium and Cobalt, in their pure metallic form, have been observed. These investigations qualitatively prove that the asymmetry in the Kα lines of the 3d group transition elements is the result of the multiplet structure of L_2(2p_<1/2>) and L_3(2p_<3/2>) levels due to their splittings in 2 and 4 sublevels respectively as proposed by Izraileva and Nefedov in their theoretical calculations. The observed fine structures are, therefore, the result of the transitions from these sublevels to the K(1s) level.
