The difference among previous theories for the spin-spin relaxation is investigated by paying attention to the invariants of motion. The reason why Casper's relaxation time is not valid in systems which possess invariants is elucidated. It is shown that in Sauermann's theory all invariants are taken into account, while in Tjon's theory only the Hamiltonian is taken account as the invariant. It is concluded that Tjon's results are not valid in systems which possess invariants other than the Hamiltonian. The relation between invariants and the asymptotic form of the density matrix in the limit of t⟶∞ is discussed.
