• Excess volumes of mixing for binary solutions containing dioxane have been determined at 30℃. The average potential theory of liquid mixtures including the adjastable parameter θ as suggested by Balescu has been found to yield good agreement with the experimental values. The parameter θ has been shown in these systems to reflect predominantly structural effects rather than the purely dipolar effects.
